Flexiant Reaches Milestone In EU?s ?10.5m Cloud Computing Project
Flexiant Reaches Milestone In EU’s €10.5m Cloud Computing Project
Edinburgh, UK (PRWEB) November 28, 2011
Flexiant reaches milestone in EU’s €10.5m cloud computing project
Flexiant, a leading cloud software and services company, today announced the successful achievement of the first year milestone in a three year €10.5m pan-European technology project.
Optimis, a high profile project to develop the tools needed to run the next generation of cloud platforms, is being delivered by Europe’s leading cloud experts, a consortium of industrial and academic partners, including Flexiant, ATOS Origin, SAP and British Telecom.
Flexiant’s cloud software Extility is powering a secure test bed environment on which to develop Optimis. A demonstration model, using real life business scenarios, is now live and employs the Extility software platform to show how the end product is likely to work.
Optimis aims to create a toolkit that will break down barriers between cloud platforms and allow infrastructure and service providers to easily move cloud based services between cloud platforms – whether public, private or hybrid.
This facility is critical when providers need extra capacity or have problems with their own services. Additionally, when a single provider has a problem, workloads can be moved elsewhere and users will see no change. New entrants to the market will also have an opportunity to offer extra capacity allowing them to compete with more established providers.
Tony Lucas, Flexiant’s founder explains: “The motivation for Optimis is the vision that hybrid clouds will become commonplace as private clouds interact with a rich ecosystem of public and other cloud providers. Optimis is aimed at enabling companies to automatically move services and applications to trustworthy and auditable cloud providers in the hybrid model. The potential for Optimis is incredible and we are extremely proud to be part of such an exciting project.”
Flexiant launched FlexiScale, Europe’s first cloud computing platform in 2007, and is the longest standing independent cloud provider in the world. Flexiant’s ground breaking software, Extility, allows service providers and data centre operators to deliver cloud computing services to their own customers direct from their own data centre.
Cloud computing allows businesses to lease computing power as and when they need it, rather than having to buy expensive equipment. Businesses use the internet to access computing resource from hosting providers who provide a platform to collect, store and process data. The net effect is to drive down operating and capital expenditure while significantly reducing the carbon footprint of each transaction and providing infinite scalability.
Optimis is conducted under the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for research and technological development. FP7 bundles together all research-related EU initiatives and plays a crucial role in achieving the goals of growth, competitiveness and employment.
Atos (Spain) is the coordinator of the project. The Optimis Consortium includes Barcelona Supercomputing Center (Spain), BT Group (UK), Flexiant (UK), The 451 Group (UK), Fraunhofer Gesellschaft (Germany), NTUA (Greece), SAP (UK), the Universities of Umea (Sweden), Stuttgart and Leibniz University of Hannover (Germany), City University of London and Leeds (UK) and from June 2011, Arsys (Spain).

Lumberton, NJ (PRWEB) November 03, 2011
At Lucas Dodge in Lumberton, NJ the 2012 Dodge Challengers have started to arrive, and the positive response and customer interest couldn’t be stronger. Dodge has tried to keep that muscle car mystique flowing in this American classic with road handling and sportiness at the top of its priority list. It’s got a 6 cylinder engine with more than 300 horsepower and a 5 speed transmission. Equally important was safety. It comes with head-curtain airbags, anti-whiplash front head restraints, front and side impact airbags, traction control, ignition disabling, and 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS. It’s destined to be a consumer favorite, and Lucas Dodge is proud to be a part of it. The dealership has plenty of new and used Dodge vehicles in stock for sale. Car buyers interested in test driving any new Dodge in Lumberton, NJ or a used Dodge Durango in Lumberton, NJ will be impressed with the many different makes and models available to choose from.
And the Lucas Auto Group is not just a Dodge dealer. Lucas Auto Group is also an authorized Ford dealer in Lumberton, NJ with an impressive array of new and used Fords on the lot, as well as a wide assortment of other makes and models of used vehicles to choose from. Anyone looking to buy a new Ford in Lumberton, NJ or even a used Ford in Lumberton, NJ is encouraged to go in and see the fine selection of automobiles available and experience the Lucas Car Dealerships for themselves by the good folks at Lucas Auto Group. Both of these solid dealerships are committed to customer satisfaction and earning trust that results in consumer loyalty for years to come. Former Phillies pitcher Mitch Williams seems to agree as a spokesperson and long time Lucas Auto Group customer.
Besides selling certified new and used vehicles, Lucas dealerships carry a variety of high-quality parts in their authorized service departments that the highly trained certified technicians on staff are more than qualified to install and can perform all other repairs and service needs that a car owner may need performed with the knowledge that it will be done right. These technicians must undergo a rigorous training and certification program to ensure proper qualifications in order to be part of any authorized dealer’s team. This helps to maintain not only consistency in first-rate auto repairs but instills customer confidence and trust, lending itself to further customer satisfaction and continued loyalty. Customer appreciation is paramount with these dealerships.
All in all, the Lucas Auto Group dealerships strive for excellence in all aspects of all things car related. Having an easily accessible online showroom in place for car buyers to be able to shop for new and used vehicles is just another way Lucas is working hard toward making the car shopping experience easier for consumers. As consumers become more computer literate and shopping savvy, so must retailers become more competitive in their respective fields, and this allows them to do so. It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved. All things considered, Lucas Auto Group and their established and future customers come out on top.

MySpace Founder Confirms November Request For SEC To Investigate in Wake of Resignation by The New York Times CEO
MySpace Founder Confirms November Request For SEC To Investigate in Wake of Resignation by The New York Times CEO
New York, NY (PRWEB) December 20, 2011
MySpace Founder Brad Greenspan confirmed today in the wake of the resignation by The New York Times Company CEO Janet L. Robinson, 61, president and chief executive officer since 2004, announced Friday December 16, 2011, that a formal complaint and request for a full investigation was made in November to the Board of Directors. In addition, the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) has confirmed to the MySpace Founder the agency has received evidence submitted on November 23, 2011 and forwarded such complaint to the Office of Investor Education and Advocacy (OIEA) to review potential violations by the NYT CEO or other executives of Sarbanes Oxley Statue 802 and/or Federal Racketeering Violations including Obstruction of Justice under File # HO-00178048-HO
Mr. Greenspan is also the largest shareholder in Brown v. Brewer a current 6 year Class Action Federal Securities Fraud and Antitrust case against News Corp and Intermix related to the 2005 Acquisition of Myspace.com. The Class Action case 2:06-cv-03731 is ongoing in Federal Central District in Los Angeles before the Honorable Judge George King. Most recently, Mr. Greenspan has filed for 25+ summary judgement counts on behalf of the Class of over 5000 public shareholders after winning an initial Summary Judgement ruling in June 2010. The MySpace Founder has also filed a Rule 701 Damage Valuation that establishes damages of over $ 32 billion dollars for Security Fraud and over $ 96 billion with antitrust claims including both a Clayton Act Section Eight Violation for Interlocking Directors and 2 Sherman Act Violation claims.
“Its incredibly important to have publicly traded media companies follow Federal laws including Sarbanes-Oxley statues, ” said the MySpace Founder “Equally important is an unfettered and uncorrupted free press in America that does not collude against Whistleblowers. I am hopeful and fully expect the Directors of the New York Times to report out on their internal investigation into the matter including working with the SEC if appropriate to bring to light any corruption or improper arrangements with other media companies which may have existed under the former CEO Janet Robinson.”
According to court documents, the MySpace Founder initiated contact with both The New York Times Company Directors and SEC providing significant evidence of an unusual suppression of certain story topics including cutting off coverage of the Brown v. Brewer Federal Class Action case after the New York Times Newspaper reported out on the case in July 2010 after an article was written by Gretchen Morgenson titled “Bidder Beware” covering Judge King’s June 2010 Summary Judgement. The New York Times also refused to contact The MySpace Founder after being supplied evidence that Mr. Greenspan was a victim of Computer Hacking/Intrusion by News Corporation which can be viewed in the pleadings before Judge King including the Motion of Summary Judgement, Motion for 60(b) Fraud upon the Court, & Motion for Intervention viewable at below link:

Master of Malt Announce St Isidore ? a Blended Whisky Created by Bloggers
Master of Malt Announce St Isidore – a Blended Whisky Created by Bloggers
(PRWEB UK) 28 November 2011
Master of Malt is proud to finally announce the release of the blended whisky, St Isidore, created entirely by whisky bloggers. To make this blend, the spirits retailer called upon the great and the good of the whisky industry including names such as Whisky Magazine, Edinburgh Whisky Blog, CaskStrength.net and Whisky Cast.
Master of Malt started by sending blending kits to 10 prominent whisky bloggers, and asked them to create the best blended whisky they could using the ingredients provided, whilst maximising its value for money. The bloggers’ recipes were made up and sold in sample sets, and Master of Malt asked the public to vote for which recipe should be made into the brand’s next whisky.
The votes were counted (using the AV system) and a rather smoky, Islay-inspired blend was chosen as the winner, before the bloggers agreed on a name for the blend, calling it St Isidore after the patron saint of the internet. For the final stage, Master of Malt called on graphic designers to submit label designs for the bottle, which summed up St Isidore, the blend, and the whisky blogging community, making them as creative as possible.
The winning designer, who was awarded a £250 spending spree at Master of Malt, was English artist Ben Sowter, who created a psychedelic, larger-than-life depiction of St Isidore enjoying his namesake blend. The label features numerous computer and internet in-jokes, for example a monitor lizard represents a computer’s monitor, and there is a bag of coins, representing a “cache”. In total, there are around 20 different hidden internet-related jokes and Easter Eggs!
You can buy a bottle of St Isidore from Master of Malt.
Tasting Notes for St Isidore:
Nose: Sweet creamy aromas that meld well with a cool, oily, almost coastal wood smoke. It instantly transports you to Islay, whilst offering just a hint of plum wine, wood shavings and lapsang souchong tea. Time in the glass brings out notes of guava, warm custard and rhubarb crumble.
Palate: Thick, warming and balanced as it hits the tongue, it offers notes of really good vanilla ice cream, black pepper, and rum spices, whilst retaining a solid backbone of sweet woodsmoke and freshly-sawn timber. Hold it on the tongue for just a touch of salty popcorn and crème caramel.
Finish: Beautifully warming and spiced. It fades away on freshly grated cinnamon and sugared peels. A faint flutter of pear juice on the very tail.
Overall: A perfect smoky blend. This is a very old-school whisky, combining the smoke of Islay, and the rich, honeyed tones of the Highlands. A superb winter fireside dram if ever there was one.

Acquirgy?s POV on How Major Google Change May Affect Marketers
Acquirgy’s POV on How Major Google Change May Affect Marketers
St. Petersburg, FL (PRWEB) November 17, 2011
Marketers are wondering how Google’s recently announced (11/2/11) change is going to impact their paid search programs. Unlike tweaks that have no major impact, the announcements by Google could have a significant impact on SEM programs. Acquirgy’s search team has been studying this change.
Currently, when paid search ads are triggered they show above and on the right hand side of the organic results. This new change, which expects to be completed by the end of November, will show advertisements above the organic results and then either the RHS (right hand side) or below the organic searches.
The Genesis
Google expressed that they “dynamically optimize each search page, including its ads, to provide the best experience for our users. In certain cases, displaying ads below search results fits better into the user’s flow as they scan the page from top to bottom. This change is in line with our key design principles of focus – presenting information to users when they need it most — and elasticity — allowing flexibility in layout depending on the user’s needs and environment.” It is still unknown which type of queries will trigger the different types of ad placements, but once those changes take place, optimizations shall follow.
What prompted Google to change how their ads were displayed? In 2009, Google was experimenting with eyescan software. This allowed Google to track an individual’s tendencies and movement throughout Google’s landscape. One can only suspect that from the data collected in those trials warranted the change in Google’s ad placements.
Potential Effects
Once the new placements are rolled advertisers you can expect ads to be shown “below the fold,” meaning viewers would need to scroll down on the screen, in order to find those advertisements at the bottom of the organic results. If an individual triggers an ad “below the fold” and he/she does not scroll down an impression is still recorded, when normally it would be shown on the right hand side (RHS) of the results page.
There are currently times when ads are below the fold and generate an impression without the searcher seeing it, which evidently hurts the CTR. In Google’s new rollout this can happen much more frequently due to no ads showing on the RHS of the screen. This has people thinking the change could potentially decrease the advertiser’s CTR.
There was an initial thought that all RHS ads would disappear making people think that Google will make people bid top dollar prices for showing in top position. There may be “inexperienced marketers running to their computers and bumping up bids because they think consumers will not be searching at the bottom of Google’s search results page,” said Steven Regan of acquirgy after Google’s announcement. If this happens, advertisers could potentially see an increase in CPCs for the top three positions.”
Google has expressed to marketers that the change in ad placements can be different from one query to another. When Google was asked, “Do bottom ads get a higher or lower CTR than RHS ads” they responded with the following. “Bottom ads have been seen to perform comparably to RHS ads in experiments. However, individual ad performance may vary.”
Acquirgy’s POV
We are notifying our clients and recommending a wait-and-see approach before making any drastic changes. “No actions have taken place just yet,” said Dorothy Weaver. She continued, “We plan to adjust accordingly once the transition is complete. If you act prematurely and raise bids you can potentially be paying more money than what is needed to show in the proper position. We understand that Google’s changes are always made with the best interest of the searcher in mind.”
Throughout the brief history of SEM, there have been numerous changes by Google and other engines, the merger of Bing and Yahoo, and a constantly evolving search landscape. Now is the time to develop strategies based on what happens to your search results on Google for your ads that have been appearing on the RHS that are moved to the bottom:
Metrics remain the same
They improve
They decline
Clearly the case to be concerned about is the last one. Since this change is less than 3 days old (at the time this story was written), thinking about a strategy should results decline makes sense, but waiting to implement it until you determine that the results are unfavorable.

Big Data Just Got Smaller: ai-one Announces New Approach to Find Information
Big Data Just Got Smaller: ai-one Announces New Approach to Find Information
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) November 16, 2011
Artificial intelligence vendor ai-one inc. will unveil a new approach to graphically represent knowledge at the SuperData Summit in San Diego on Wednesday. The discovery, named ai-Fingerprint, is a significant breakthrough because it allows computers to understand the meaning of language much like a person. Unlike other technologies, ai-Fingerprints compresses knowledge in way that can work on any kind of device, in any language and shows how clusters of information relate to each other. This enables almost any developer to use off-the-shelf and open-source tools to build systems like Apple’s SIRI and IBM Watson.
Ondrej Florian, ai-one’s VP of Core Technology invented ai-Fingerprints as a way to find information by comparing the differences, similarities and intersections of information on multiple websites. The approach is dynamic so that the ai-Fingerprint transforms as the source information changes. For example, the shape for a Twitter feed adapts with the conversation. This enables someone to see new information evolve and immediately understand its significance.
“The big idea is that we use artificial intelligence to identify clusters and show how each cluster relates to another,” said Florian. “Our approach enables computers to compare ai-Fingerprints across many documents to find hidden patterns and interesting relationships.”
The ai-Fingerprint is the collection of all the keywords and their associations identified by ai-one’s Topic-Mapper tool. Each keyword and its associations is a coordinate – much like what you would find on a map. The combination of these keywords and associations forms a graph that encapsulates the entire meaning of the document.
The real-world applications are impressive. “It solves a lot of so-called Big Data problems because the system learns by itself,” said Olin Hyde who worked with Florian on the project. “ai-Fingerprints work with existing computer languages and standards. So it only took us about a week to create a generic tool, called BrainBrowser, to find relationships in complex texts – such as summarizing news articles, searching for a job, or identifying new uses for a drug.”
To build BrainBrowser, the team fed ai-Fingerprint results from Topic-Mapper into a natural language processing tool, OpenNLP, so that the computer could understand the rules of grammar then tag parts of speech, chunk phrases and classify words into categories (also called named-entity recognition). The ai-Fingerprint is continuously updated by Topic-Mapper so that the computer can understand how information changes over time – as it does in a human conversation.
Next, the team built a little tool in Java that converted the output into a continuous data feed using an open-standard format called XGMML. This format shares the knowledge of a document as a network of words, sentences and relationships.
Finally, they visualized the result with an open-source bioinformatics tool, called Cytoscape, to show the differences, similarities and identify anomalous information among documents. The result is a graphic representation of knowledge that can show clusters, extract summaries and compare many documents at the same time.
The approach is easy for others to replicate with other technologies. “We used Topic-Mapper with Java, OpenNLP and Cytoscape,” said Florian, “But you could easily do this with Python, MATLAB and NLTK. Heck, you could throw a voice recognition tool on it, like Dragon or Nuance, and you can build an intelligent agent just like SIRI.”
ai-Fingerprint works in any language because Topic-Mapper looks only at byte-patterns. “The approach can give false positives if you don’t teach it the rules of language” warned Florian, “but it is very accurate once it learns the grammar from an outside source of information – such as a natural language processing system or an external database.”
ai-one’s engineering team sees ai-Fingerprints as a way to make it easier, faster and less expensive for their partners to develop intelligent systems. The team is now testing it for applications in advertising, financial analysis, medical research and search engine optimization (SEO).
“Our mission is to make powerful AI available to all developers. This is a big step in that direction,” said ai-one’s chief operating officer Tom Marsh. “We are eager to find academic and consulting partners who can build upon what we started.”
“BrainBrowser is just a minimally viable product (MVP) to prove the concept,” added Hyde. “The sky is the limit for those that want to build commercial applications. Just take the MVP code and customize to your needs.”
A demo of the system can be seen on http://www.ai-one.com and the semsys YouTube channel. ai-one intends to provide the source code for ai-Fingerprint as part of its Topic-Mapper software development kit.

Monitor and Protect Those New PCs with PC Pandora Computer Monitoring Software
Monitor and Protect Those New PCs with PC Pandora Computer Monitoring Software
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) December 16, 2011
With only a few shopping days left for the holiday season, there is no doubt the big gifts have been purchased. In today’s high-tech world, kids are living digitally, and, subsequently, topping their wishlists with dreams of netbooks, laptops, and cell phones. Bottom line: a lot of high-tech toys are sure to be unwrapped this December. Pandora Corporation, the maker of PC Pandora computer monitoring software, is reminding parents to be smart when giving teens and tweens their own PC this holiday season.
“What parents tend to forget is that these high tech toys are a doorway between your child and the rest of the world,” explains Leasure. “Remember, that door swings both ways. It is absolutely imperative that parents have a tool in place to monitor who their child is talking to online, how they are interacting with others and how they are representing themselves on the Internet.”
Over the last decade, times have changed dramatically. While it is still not the best idea to let a child have their own computer and Internet connection, it is an unavoidable reality in 2011, due to the amount of school work requiring a computer and the increased pressure from peers to be socially active online. Leasure says parents must adopt to the times and step up the parenting game. New rules must be enforced and questions should be asked; discussions should be held and computers must be monitored.
“As you get ready to give them the ‘big gift’ this year, make sure it is outfitted with proper parental control and monitoring software,” says Leasure. “Tools like our PC Pandora make it easy to find that safe, happy medium between teens being able to freely use the Internet socially, and parents not being left in the dark about their child’s online activity.”
PC Pandora is computer monitoring software that records all user activity on a computer. First-rate monitoring capabilities take sequential snapshots of everything that happens on the computer, allowing parents to see first-hand everything their child does both on and offline. Details of user activity , including websites visited, social network activity, instant messenger chats, peer-2-peer files shared, keystrokes, programs accessed, Internet search queries and more, are made available in text-based files and easy-to-read charts. In less than 10 minutes, parents can verify their children are using their new toys safely or uncover a situation that needs parental attention.
“PC Pandora is essentially a DVR for your child’s computer,” says Leasure. “If your child is talking to strangers on social networks, creating and maintaining multiple social network profiles, visiting websites you don’t approve of, downloading illegal music and movies, or falling victim to or – even worse – acting as a cyberbully, you will know about it if you are monitoring their internet activity.”
In addition, the built-in IRIS feature can send the text-based data files right to a parent’s email, and the PC Pandora LIVE! add-on allows parents to check screenshots and adjust parental controls though a secure web login. Both are invaluable features for working parents who can’t always be home when their kids are online.
Leasure adds: “Conversation, education and awareness are essential, but a child with an Internet-connected device can still lead to unwanted and potentially harmful situations. That’s why it’s important to monitor what they are doing with those very powerful tools you place in their hands.”
As a special promotion for the holidays, the company is offering the software at half of the normal retail price. The sale is already on and will continue through New Year’s Day 2012. Visit http://www.pcpandora.com for more details.
