    Yes most things at …
Yes most things at the moment, are for Dual cores and, benchmarks aside, far as my wallet goes i will stick with AMD. AMD allows me to build 2 new decent computers for the price of around or less then one Intel machine.

  • TheDarkFalcon says:

    opps my bad. yeah …
opps my bad. yeah im not bashing amd, iv been called a amd fanboy, but compared to intels quads they are prettty useless. but still i dont even use quads, most things still seem to be optimised for dual cores, my amd 6000+ x2 gets a higher rank on average on tomshardware charts than the famed Q6600.

    Not all refurbished …
Not all refurbished items are bad, and like my other post I got a refurbished AMD based Emachines from Tiger for my sis. It made a great basic Vista system, and saved me $100/$200, then buying a new machine. Refrubished items get a bad rep cause of some sorry companies that don’t do proper checks on there stuff before sending it back out, how ever Gateway/Emachines does a great job with there refurbished stuff.

  • clays121 says:

    No they where never …
No they where never part of intel, IBM at the time, required there be at least 2 sources of CPUs. AMD was, and still is it’s own company just they liscensed some patents from Intel, so they did not have to reverse enginer the chips. AMD Tri/quads actually run really well, and better on Air cooling then Intel.

  • clays121 says:

    Intel may win in …
Intel may win in some bench marks, but i would still get a really good AMD machine, as they don’t break the bank, and they run well enough for most people. Drop in a nice ATI video card, max out the ram, and you have a nice mid range game machine. Intel to me has always just either been over priced or underpowered. Intel has no balance in that respect.

  • clays121 says:

Yes it would be the …
Yes it would be the Emachines models, as gateway makes them as well. They run nice and cool with good fans, and work hard, and last a long time. Emachines would be great machines for your task now that Gateway owns them. I got one on sale from Tiger for around $200US, and with upgrades cost me about $250US, and made a great basic vista machine for my sis, and her family, as a nice family christmas gift.

  • clays121 says:

    For the money, I …
For the money, I would say so, if your looking for prebuilt machine. Also remeber Gateway makes Emachines computers, with some of the same, or close specs, and the Emachines are not that bad for a common computer, and there price. Tech Support is great also. I have an old rare Gateway with an AMD 1000mhz slotA Athalon Processor, I keep around for a backup Linux machine, and it still runs well, and it was bought in 2000. AMD for Me has laster long then any Intel I have ever owned.

  • TheDarkFalcon says:

    wellll at the …
wellll at the moment yes, but it was for along time. AMD was originally part of intel that just ‘tricked’ out there cpus. however there quads suck, and there tricores are laughable

  • eternalvoice1 says:

AMD is never better then intel.
