PostHeaderIcon Should I get an Acer Aspire T4300 or HP Refurbished Notebook PC – T4300?

The Acer comes with Window 7 already installed. The HP you have to upgrade.

I had to search wide to get reviews and details since that beyond the processor (a Pentium Dual Core T4300), you did not specify models.

The clear winner here is the "new" Acer not the "Refurbished" HP, in fact the Acer would have won against a new HP of this type.

It wins because of Windows 7, because it is new with a better warranty and because of many other smaller details.

PostHeaderIcon where’s the best place to get deals on used/refurbished pocket pc phones online besides Ebay and Craigslist?

Already tried NewEgg.

You may want to try BuyatDiscounts.com. They have a lot of cell phones for the lowest prices I have seen. I’m looking at their phones right now and I see some refurbished ( the ones that are refurbished are labled). http://www.buyatdiscounts.com/Store/home.asp?home_id=64&b=1

PostHeaderIcon What is the difference between a tablet PC and a notebook PC?

I saw the other post but was not fully sure for example the Toshiba Portege R400-S4834 Notebook PC and the Toshiba Portege M700-S7003V Refurbished Tablet PC both have swivel tops and are both categorized as Tablet PCs but what is the difference, I want to use form filling software program but want the easiest experience in the field and email the results back to the office… will either work? which one works better?

Actually, both of the laptops you mentioned are tablets. A couple of differences between the two laptops – R400 has no optical drive and has worse performance than the m700, but its lighter and it looks much bettter. I personally own a toshiba m700 and I find it easy to use and fast (with its 2.4ghz intel core 2 duo). Get the m700 – its definitely the better deal.

PostHeaderIcon PC World Refurbished Laptops?

On the PC World website they sell refurbih computers and laptops etc, and some look really good, but with them being refurbished does that mean theyre not as good as new ones? or is there no actual difference in them, excpet the fact theyve been preowned? Thanks in advance

hi mate
theres nothing wrong with Refurbished Laptops,as long as the warranty is good that supports them
for example if you get a Refurbished Laptop and you are worried it may break down in the first six months then a decent 2 year onsite warranty will give you piece of mind
as for performance theres no difference between the new and refurbished models, however if you are offered a refurbished laptop make sure you thouroughly inspect it for any external damage(scratches, marks) and if there is any ask for money off,you could save quite a bit of money and the scratches are easy to fix with some plastic filler
some refurbished models have been pre-owned however some may have been delivered and unopened, and even in this case they are still seen as "refurbished"
good luck !

PostHeaderIcon refurbished laptops from pc world?

does anyone have any past experiences with refurbished laptops from pc world? are they factory sealed from being repaired etc?

Thanks

No not at all. they don’t do anything to them. just a quick check out n clean. that’s it. its a second hand sale period. just make sure you have a warranty. they will be more than willing to sell you one. Expensive mind!

PostHeaderIcon Is buying a factory refurbish pc ok to do?

I see this pc i like on best buy and it says factory refurbish. I’ve always bought my pc’s new. Is it ok to buy a factory refurbished pc?

Generally they work good as new, though a warranty is always recommended.
PCs get sent back because one part is bad, but the rest of them are usually fine. You’re still getting the same hardware with a refurbished machine, it’s just been used a little bit. Computers live so long that you won’t notice a difference.

i work at a computer store, and i can’t tell you how many hp’s come into our service station. Dell’s tend to hold up better if you just want to do basic desktop computing. I can tell you right now that is a terrible gaming computer though. 1.8 dual core is nothing anymore, the ram is a bit low since you’d be getting vista premium, and prebuilt pc’s never come with a decent video card unless you spend thousands of dollars. if you want a good gaming computer, build it yourself. if you wanna do that, then we’ll talk.

and btw i like playing alot of games like warcraft 3 roc and warcraft3 tft ,starcraft and so on

yea and how much might that cost?

If you like playing games on this computer, I would recommend not having an integrated graphics card. As long as the games are old, you won’t have too much of a problem, although you will definitely notice a major difference in the graphics and smoothness of gameplay if you upgrade the graphics card and the processor clock speed. If you use this computer mainly as a school/business computer, this is a perfect computer for you; I had one exactly like this (except it was a Toshiba with a little less shared video memory and a 200gb hard drive, but otherwise almost identical) and it worked perfect for my needs (I go to college and use it mainly for movies and word processing), although when I started playing games like Halo it would show the limits of its computing power. Now I have a 2.0ghz dual core processor with 4gb RAM and a nVidia GeForce 8400 sharing 2 gb video memory and there is definitely a noticeable difference when it comes to games, but when it comes to school work, the only difference is how fast the applications open.
