PostHeaderIcon What is the best way to send MIDI program change to multiple keyboards? Mac or PC Laptop or other HW?

My wife has a Roland RD700sx, Roland JunoG and Korg CX-3. We would like to be able to capture all program info for the boards for a particular song so she could pull up a song with a single (or minimal) button press. We have a Mac Laptop and a PC laptop or would be willing to buy some sort of master control box if that would be easier. Throw out some ideas.

For software you have Garage Band08 on your Mac – Just record each keyboard in its own track as detailed in the tutorials

if you want something more sophisticated you can either get Logic Studio on Mac or Pro Tools from Digi Design.

Check out Garage Band First.

What should i buy mackbook pro or a pc laptop for same price?, will a macbook pro last long?
is it worth the 1200 dollars? is it good for a highschool student? will it last longer than a pc latop? What do you recommend? what is better? macbook pro has osx snow leapard and looks better than a pc laptop… is it really worth the money………

Hi tg,

Yes, the MacBook Pro is a great laptop. It has a lot of power and is really adaptable to whatever you may want to use your computer for. The great thing about the Mac OS X is that it simply works. There’s no complications, no computer viruses.

I’ve got an old PowerBook, that is over nine and a half years old and it’s using Mac OS X Leopard. I’ve never had any anti-virus software on it and I have yet to get any computer viruses, worms or whatever. So, yes, I’d say a MacBook Pro will last you a good long time.

You get what you pay for. You pay now, or you pay later. Those words are very true about the Macintosh. You pay a little bit extra, but you get a lot for the money. My Son bought his MacBook after years of using Windows and says that he won’t go back to Windows.

The one problem, as you can tell, is that there’s a lot of Windows Nazis out there that really don’t like the Macintosh for whatever reason. The good news is that there’s plenty of nice friendly Mac users out there that are happy to help you, if you have any problems.

Don’t take my word for it. Go to an Apple store or Macintosh dealer and try it out for yourself. Best of luck with your decision, tg.

PostHeaderIcon Why did my PC laptop stop being able to connect to the wireless internet?

I turned on my PC laptop and it can’t seem to connect to my wireless internet I have at home. My other laptop (a Macbook Pro) is still using the internet without a problem? What’s wrong with my PC laptop? What do I do? Thanks!
Yes, my wireless switch is on. I did nothing out of the ordinary, but for some reason, I turned on my computer today and I couldn’t connect.

hi, look in you internet options, reset your network configuration.
also if you have a disk that came with your router, install the wireless connection wizard.
hope this works for you

PostHeaderIcon can i plug in my external hard drive to watch videos directly, without the laptop/pc, to HDTV which has USB?

i have only seen phillips HDTV that comes with USB conneciton.. Before i buy, i would like to know if it is possible to watch movies directly from external hard drive, without the interference of laptop/Pc, to HDTV via USB connection. Currently, i am running S-video+ audio cable from my laptop to my oridnary T V to watch movies. It works fine.

The short answer is no. Most TVs dont have this capability. However there is a TV made by HP called the MediaSmart TV that basically is a TV with a Media Center Extender built into it.

There are others but that is the one I know about. Or you could just buy an Xbox 360 as a companion to your TV. The Xbox 360 supports media center extender so you can share your folders with video files across your wifi or wired network and view them that way. Same thing with PS3 but you need a DLNA compliant NAS (network attached storage) device to share the files. There are other media sharing devices out there too.

So back to the short answer, some TV yes. Most no. But can be done with a $100-$400 addon box that uses network to share it to the television.
