How do I connect my laptop to my desktops Wireless?
We’re using an Ad-hoc network downstairs, using our main computer. I recently bought a desktop for my room upstairs, and thats connected to the wireless network no problem. However, my laptop is out of range of the downstairs computer. Can I connect my laptop to my desktop upstairs to get internet? If so, how do I do this?
Go on control panel, network connections (this is for the desktop upstairs) and right click the connection you are using (I presume the wireless connection). Click properties and then click the advanced tab and click the box which says: Allow other network users to connect through this internet connection. If you receive a message after you click ok, click yes.
On your laptop, go on control panel, network and internet connections, network connections and right click on the connection that you will be using and click properties. On the general tab, scroll to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the:This connection uses the following items list. Click properties and make sure it obtains ip address and DNS automatically by selecting the boxes and click ok.
If you want to share files between computers and share printers, create a lan.

When will desktops with Intel Penryn processors start coming out?
I have a Dell gift certificate that will expire the beginning of April ’08. Should I wait for the new chips ? I do a lot of home video editing and encoding. Also some 3D gaming, probably more with a better comp. Thanks.
by april dell should have them. You’re best bet anyways is to hang onto it until the last moment because prices are constanly dropping, keep in mind that nvidia is also scheduled to release their 9000 series GPU in late february so that will drive down the prices of the current 8000 series cards getting you a better card for cheaper, even if dell doesn’t have the penryn yet by then because of it they will drop their prices to try and move the older cpus out.

DeskSpace: When I switch desktops, is there a way to have different programs on each desktop?
I though you were able to do it before, but for some reason it is not working for me anymore. Everytime I change desktops, I have the same program on it that I had on the other one
Here is the DeskSpace Tutorial http://www.otakusoftware.com/deskspace/learn/ although slightly limited in versatility. There is a much better one called CubeDesktop http://www.cubedesktop.com/

How to find your desktops security key to connect to the interest from a laptop?
I have a laptop that i am trying to connect to interent on. But the security key is needed in order for me to access my Desktop’s wireless interenet, i know i need to go into the router settings on my desktop, but i have NO idea how to do that, i am on my desktop now and have my laptop on, can anyone help me?
In the instructions on your router it will give you an IP address that you need to type into Internet Explorer to get to the settings.
I know on Netgear routers it is usually 192.168.0.1.
So for that you’d just open Internet Explorer, type 192.168.0.1 into the Address Bar at the top and hit return.
The instructions should give you an idea what the IP address is though as it may differ from the Netgear one.
Some routers are preset with a default WEP key, and it will be written on a sticker underneath the router. May not be there but some definately do.
