How do I know what my remote desktop connection password is?
Both of my computers are networked properly, and are working fine. My laptop is running Windows 7, my desktop is XP. I’m trying to use my laptop to connect to the desktop. When i go on, they ask for a username and password, but I don’t know what it is.
Its the same username/password you would use to login to the computer directly. There isn’t a separate "remote connection only" password.

How do I start a remote desktop session on Solaris? I have my display exported?
I have my X display exported to my laptop and I have an xterm on the solaris server. I want to fire up a "desktop" session that displays on my laptop. What command (s) do I need to run to do that?
By "desktop" session I mean I want to see something like what I would see if I was at the actual console of the server. It doesn’t have to be the actual console, but something similar to it.
Since you know about $DISPLAY, you obviously know
how to remotely display specific applications
like "xterm". To get an entire "desktop" (ie. a
window manager), use "vnc".
This software is available on the "companion CD"
The basic idea is to start "vncserver" on the
remote machine.
fee $ rlogin foo
foo $ vncserver
and then use the vnc client on your local machine:
fee $ vncviewer -shared foo:1
Because the default window manager is "twm", I
also created the file $HOME/.vnc/xstartup to
contain the following so that my "desktop" would
be gnome:
———————————————————————-
#!/bin/sh
xrdb $HOME/.Xresources
xsetroot -solid grey
xterm -geometry 80×24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" &
/usr/bin/gnome-session &
———————————————————————-
I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve heard the claim
that the OpenSolaris X server supports this
directly (ie. so that you don’t have to start
"vncserver" on the remote machine).
A couple of nice features to this is that it
allows you to share a desktop with someone who is
collaborating with you. Similarly, it allows you
to "join" your own existing desktop when you go
home from work at night
Definitely see the reference below.
How can I set up a desktop computer to a wireless network?
I have a laptop now hooked to our home wireless network(with the router and all that stuff),but I was thinking of getting a desktop computer however all of the working phone jacks are occupied. Is there anyway to use a wireless card of some sort to connect a desktop to our router that is in another room?
If you need more information feel free to ask!
Thanks So Much!

What is the difference between a Desktop Computer VS a Personal Computer?
Is a Desktop Computer the same as opposed to a Personal Computer? I know a Personal Computer is abbreviated as "PC" but what about a typical Desktop Computer? Does it mean the same thing at all??
Yes it is the same…the only thing different is a desktop sits on the desk or floor or anywhere whereas a laptop is portable! Both would be personal computers whereas would be different if it was a buisness or office computer.
How do I get into my desktop computer if I forgot the Windows user password?
I haven’t been able to use my desktop computer since 2007 due to moving. I can’t remember the PW to get into my account on my computer and I am the only user. Is there a way to reset the PW? I really need to put my documents onto my desktop from my laptop computer.
You can try this (For windows XP), but this only works if you never set a password for Administrator (Most of people usually don’t)
In the log-in screen. Press your user name and Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice and a new window will come up. Type in Administrator for the account.
Alternatively you can also can also start up the computer in safe mode. While the screen is black and the computer is booting, tap the key that enters you into safe mode (Usually F8).
In safe mode, the Administrator account that is usually hidden reveals it self. Just press it and you’re in.
This is how to change your password after getting into the administrator account.
Open up Run (Start menu -> Run or shortcut keys: Windows Key + R)
Type in "control userpasswords2" [without the quotations] then hit enter.
Then reset the password for your user.
Hopefully this helped.

What i need for home wireless network between desktop and notebook?
I have wireless card on my laptop, but my desktop pc doesn’t have one.
The thing i want is to share adsl internet from desktop (usb) so i can have it on my laptop everywhere in my flat (60 square meters, two walls) and to have a standard file sharing network between them. So can i do this by adding wifi usb stick into desktop? Or i need a router?
There are three key parts to a wireless internet connection:
1. A modem. This is the device that will connect to your ISP (or Internet Service Provider — the people who you are paying to serve you with internet connectivity). High speed internet modems can be DSL (using a phone line), Cable (using a coaxial connection to your television provider), Satellite (using a coaxial connection to your Satellite Internet dish), or Wireless (connecting over-air to a provider such as Clearwire).
2. A router. This is the device that your computers will use to connect, wirelessly, with each other and with the modem. You will want to set this up with some sort of security; the most commonly used is a WEP key, which is just a 32 (or more) character code that your router knows, and you tell your computers to use, to connect — so that unauthorized users can’t connect to your network.
3. A wireless network card or device. This is either a USB, external device, or a card (PCI or PCMCIA, for laptops) that is installed on each of your computers, that allows your computer to communicate through the air, and connect to your router.
The modem needs to be connected to the router (by a CAT5 or CAT6 network cable), and also to your ISP’s method of internet transport.
Alternately, some modems have a built-in wireless router/access point, but I generally prefer to use a router and turn off the modem’s wireless capability, for the improved firewall most routers have.
You may also have to connect your PC to the modem directly (through a cable) to configure it, and the router may need to be connected similarly to set it up as well, but can be disconnected and used wirelessly once this is done.
What is the difference between Desktop and Laptop computers?
A Desktop computer has a Hard drive that is a very big box and very messy, while a laptop is very slim and can be carried anywhere you want.
why does a Desktop have such a big box of a hard drive?
Because the internal components (as they are the same), are very different.
The components for the laptop are meant to very compact and fast.
The physical size and its pin configuration are different for both, the more compact is made for the laptop.
The desktop is also very easily upgradable, whereas the laptop is not (just get a new one…)
