PostHeaderIcon What kind of Laptop computer should I buy for my 14 year old daughter for Christmas?

I am thinking about purchasing a laptop for my 14 year old daughter and she has mentioned a Flamingo Pink Dell 1521 Inspiron Laptop? Is this a good computer and if not, what do you suggest?

that’s a pretty good computer. I would suggest the 1520 inspiron though. It’s a little more expnesive, but a core 2 duo processor is the best.

So basically go here:

http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&oc=DNCWKA1&s=dhs

and customize the following:

SYSTEM COLOR: Flamingo Pink
PROCESSOR: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5250 (1.5GHz/667Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
MEMORY: 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
INTEGRATED WEBCAM: Integrated 2.0M Pixel Webcam

Leave the rest at default and it should be a pretty good laptop for her. Keep checking here for dell coupons:

The good coupons just expired ($350 off a $999+ on inspirons). They should post new ones soon.

PostHeaderIcon How do computer components communicate inside the MPU (main processing unit)?

i was wondering how the components inside a computer communicate between each other, i know about paralel and BUS but i am not sure about the technical details

There is an address bus and a data bus. The address bus ‘turns on’ a particular storage location and then the data is sent down the data bus.
When an action such as doing a calculation is in progress the address bus accesses the processor and sends it data from a specific location. Then it sends more if, for example, two numbers are to be multiplied together. The address bus then accesses a memory location and sends the processed data to be stored there. This memory location can be the screen.
For letters it’s much the same as they are stored as numbers. The keyboard is accessed and its data input is sent to a storage location.
Then it all gets a bit complicated!

PostHeaderIcon Why did my PC laptop stop being able to connect to the wireless internet?

I turned on my PC laptop and it can’t seem to connect to my wireless internet I have at home. My other laptop (a Macbook Pro) is still using the internet without a problem? What’s wrong with my PC laptop? What do I do? Thanks!
Yes, my wireless switch is on. I did nothing out of the ordinary, but for some reason, I turned on my computer today and I couldn’t connect.

hi, look in you internet options, reset your network configuration.
also if you have a disk that came with your router, install the wireless connection wizard.
hope this works for you

PostHeaderIcon What Exactly is a Refurbished Computer?

I am looking to get a new computer, and I like the look off this
(http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0731236711.1254753568@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccgadeihjfejfecflgceggdhhmdgmj.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=624260&category_oid=)

But what exactly is a refurbished pc?

Help!

A "refurbished computer" is one that was taken back by the vendor, was taken apart and checked for all the working parts to be in good working order and then put back together. It’s still works and is in great working order, however, it has been used by the purchaser before it was returned back to the store. Besides that, the vendor gives you a great price on it and it can’t be sold as "brand new" because technically, it isn’t.

PostHeaderIcon How do i connect my desktop to the internet through a laptop connected to wifi?

okay, so my computer doesnt have internet at the moment, because we just moved it upstairs. we have a laptop thats picking up on the wifi thats still in the basement. is there any way, through an ethernet cable, that i can access the internet on my desktop?
this is temporary, we are going to get a wireless thingy for the desktop soon. thanks!

you might have to set up a network and thats a bit complicated….try searching Google for help on that or call a professional.

or you can install a wireless card into you’re desktop (once again, ask a professional).

PostHeaderIcon How do I gain rights from a gaming company to make a movie?

I want to obtain the legal rights from a video game company to make a movie. How do I go by doing that? Do I contact the gaming company’s producer or there lawyers?

It will probably cost Hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars to do that, especially if it is a very popular game

PostHeaderIcon Does anyone know of a cheap way to duplicate high quality DVD’s on my PC?

I need to duplicate HQ DVD’s in bulk, and I’m looking for
a inexpensive of cheap way of duplication. I’ve used Kukani
before, but yo have to wait to receive them in the mail and
honestly I wasn’t impressed with the quality.

Anyone know of a good way to reproduce HQ DVD’s
from my PC on the cheap?

Yeah I’ve tried Kunaki; takes to long. The best thing to do
is just replicate them yourself. I make digital products &
"How to" videos. Now that Ebay has banned the sale of
digital products, I think a lot of people are going to need
a cheap DVD duplication system set up, or a reliable
outsourcer.

I’m a little impatient so I just burn them myself. There’s
this guy who sales a course on how to duplicate DVD’s
& CD’s without comprimising quality or creative options.
Check it out if you want. One thing to remember though:
if you get the right set-up, you can bust DVD’s out basically
at cost, which will save you a grip over time.
