PC Build Timelapse – Cheap setup for recording 2010 birdbox activity
Timelapse recording of me building a cheap PC baseunit that will be used to records this years activity from our garden birdboxes (subject to bluetit returning to nest) – the timelapse was done using a Canon A590IS still camera booting into CHDK (Canon Hack Development Kit) and running a timelapse script that takes a photo every 10secs. Photos were then turned into a video using JPGVideo.

Android Laptop Review: Hivision PWS700CA
This is a worlds first video-review of an ARM9 Powered Android Laptop, the PWS700CA by Shenzhen based Hivision, find more info at: http://hvsco.com/ProductsView.asp?articleid=789
It is based on a Rockchip RK2808 600mhz ARM926 processor, 128SDRAM, 7″ 800×480 screen, 720p Video playback support, WiFi, Ethernet, audio input/output and weights only 650grams.
The price has not yet been announced officially because Hivision is looking for worldwide distributors of this product, who will then decide how much it will be sold for to end consumers. But you can understand that if Hivision was able to sell those types of laptops for $98 more than a year ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKQbN6tpYXw, then surely the price has not gone up since then, at least if you consider what might be the manufacturing costs when this Laptop would be mass manufactured. My guess is that if a giant consumer electronics retailer like Amazon, Walmart or Best Buy approached Hivision to order high quantities of this laptop, it could be sold even below $99 to end users.

Debian Gnome + Beryl “3D-Desktop”
Debian GNU/Linux with Gnome Desktop running Beryl/AIGLX for 3D desktop effects. Debian version was “etch” (“testing” at that time).
System:
AMD64 3500+, 1024 DDR2-400, Geforce 6600GT
(but it runs on very old machines, try it out)
You can get all themes, styles, icons etc. on gnome-look dot org. The dockbar at the top is part of “gDesklets” (available on official repositories).
On gnome-look dot org, search for…
“dragon” (wallpaper)
“glassy” (icon set)
“dark” (color theme, I don’t remeber the exact name)
You can install everything with the default gnome theme manager.
There are a lot of users posting “this is ubuntu” – it’s not! The menu icon was part of the default ubuntu icon set I installed before (the new “glassy” icon set does not replace the menu button).

What is the best laptop computer on the market today?
In any and all aspects, what is the absolute best laptop computer in the world today, and why?
Just curious to hear other people’s opinions.
I’d say either the Alienware MX17x or the 17" MacBook Pro, when the i7 update is released. Both great computers and utterly at the top of their game. And the i7 MacBook is going to be brutal…you just know it.
Where do you shop for computer components?
I was wondering where other people shop for their hardware online, i usually shop for computer parts at ebuyer, and i would like to know what other sites there are.
I know ebuyer may not be the best which is why im asking this question.
Where do you shop for computer components?
Note: I live in the UK so a UK based site would be very helpful although i can shop overseas as well.
I like ebuyer too – got a great samsung monitor a while back.
You have to hunt around for the best price and watch for hidden delivery costs.
Also look at overclockers

How do I make a PC/XP and Laptop/vista work together via a wireless router using the same printer?
I have a PC running windows XP connected to a wireless router and a printer. I just bought a laptop with a wireless card and I want to connect PC, Laptop and Printer to work together with the laptop as a network wirelessly.
You should be able to print on any printer on your network, even if it’s attached to another machine. XP machines should be able to simply Share the printer from the machine it’s attached to.
If the machine with the printer has Windows XP and the other has Windows Vista, you have to do a bit more than that. Try this:
1.On the XP machine, set the printer to Sharing in the Printers and Faxes dialog box.
2.On the Vista machine, get to the Add A Printer dialog.
3.Click Add a local Printer. (Yes, I know it’s on the network, but trust me.)
4.Click the Create a new port radio button. Leave the type of port set to Local Port.
5.Click the Next button.
6.In the Port Name text box, enter the printer’s name, complete with the other machine’s name (e.g. \\Bob’s Machine\Bob’s Printer).
7.Click OK.
Sorry, but I haven’t tried sharing a printer on a Vista machine with an XP machine.
Hope that helps.
